Webelo Program

Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity.

Webelos Program:
The Webelos program has two major milestones - the Webelos rank badge and the Arrow of Light. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop selected individually by the scout.

For all the requirements required for Webelo rank advancement please consult your rank book.

Webelos Uniform Information can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.

To Attain the Weblos Badge the boys must complete the following:

Be an active member of your Webelos den for three months. (Being active means having good attendance, paying your den dues, and working on den projects.)

Complete each of the following Webelos required adventures with your den or family:

Cast Iron Chef

Duty to God and You

First Responder

Stronger, Faster, Higher

Webelos Walkabout

Complete two Webelos elective adventures of your den or family's choosing.

With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.

Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age.

Scout Oath (or Promise)

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

 Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly,
courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty,
brave, clean, and reverent.

The boys at this level will each have a chance to be a Cub Scout Denner. The Cub Scout Denner is a role that is intended to teach leadership skills. The responsibility is given to a den member as assigned by the Den Leader. Each month, a new Denner is selected. The Denner is easily recognized as he will be wearing a special Denner shoulder cord on their left Shoulder. His responsibilities are determined by the Den and Pack leader and will include:

Den Meetings:

·       Gather scouts to assist in setting up.

·       Gather and Lead Flag and Pledge of Allegiance ceremony

·       Assist Den Leader with Den activities

·       Hold the Flag

·       Assist in gathering scouts to help clean up.

Pack Meetings:

·        Lead Pack meeting by taking role and/or inspecting uniforms

·       Lead Den in skit (if part of meeting)

·       Assist Cub Master to pass out achievements to the Den (if needed)

Go See It/Pack Events and at all other times:

·       Set a good example for scouting behavior

·       Inform other scouts of what they should be doing and where they should be going.

In General, the purpose of this role is to build leaders so Den Leaders should encourage and promote this role.

If available our pack will also have a Scout Den Chief. This Scout is approved by the  Cubmaster and pack committee for recommendation to the den leader. They must be registered and active as a youth member of a troop, team, or crew.

Responsibilities include:

Know the purposes of Cub Scouting.

Help Cub Scouts achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting.

Serve as the activities assistant at den meetings.

Set a good example through attitude and uniforming.

Be a friend to the boys in the den.

Help lead weekly den meetings.

Help the den in its part of the monthly pack meeting.

Know the importance of the monthly theme and pack meeting plans.

Meet regularly with the den leader to review den and pack meeting plans. Meet as needed with adult members of the den, pack, and troop.

Receive training from the den leader (and Cubmaster or assistant Cubmaster) and attend Den Chief Training.

Encourage Cub Scouts to become Webelos Scouts when they are eligible.

Help the denner and assistant denner to be leaders.
